Buses For Baseball
From a pilot program that brought groups of kids to two games in Kansas City in 2000, Buses for Baseball has grown incrementally the past four seasons and now includes events in all 30 Major League Baseball markets.
In this program, the Players Trust partners with local transit authorities and MLB clubs to bring underprivileged kids from charitable organizations to big-league baseball games. For many of the children, it is an opportunity to attend their very first game.
Once at the ballpark, the kids are greeted by players who spend time signing autographs, giving away souvenirs and posing for photographs. The kids then watch the game and enjoy complimentary food and soft drinks before the bus heads home.
The personal interaction between the children and players guarantees that each Buses for Baseball event is more than just a day at the ballpark; rather, it is an experience that all participants will remember for a lifetime.
The Players Trust is a charitable foundation created by MLB players to help those in need. Through the Players Trust, players, to include Boston Red Sox Captain Jason Varitek, donate their time, money and celebrity to call attention to important issues affecting those in need and promote community volunteerism.
